I had a great time yesterday chaperoning a field trip to the National World War 2 Museum in New Orleans. It sort of cracks me up to realize that many people think New Orleans is a place where boogey-men jump out from every corner, and we take kids on field trips there. I love New Orleans - come back if you get the chance.

The Museum was super cool, and I got to escort the three bright and beautiful girls pictured above around all day long. (They make pretty good Rosie the Riveters, don't you think?) We went on a self-guided tour during the first part of the day. We went to the Riverwalk for lunch, and for dessert I got to buy beignets for the girls (Alexa had never had one before!) from the Cafe du Monde store. After lunch, we went on a docent-led tour, which was the best of all. If you go to the Museum, see if you can get a guide - that makes it extra special.

My dad turned 21 the day before Pearl Harbor was bombed, and he enlisted in the Navy shortly thereafter. He was at the Battle of Midway, which I always heard was the turning point of the war in the Pacific.

So World War II has always carried a special fascination with me.

Hanging out in a museum dedicated to that time in history with my daughter made for a special day.

Glad to have you back blogging. I miss reading your everyday post. That is the way I get to keep up with you.

I have been working on the book a little. I have had a few other things get in the way. Like, going to Neyland Stadium tomorrow to watch DMac and company take down the Vols. Go Hogs!

Cool!!! I'll be watching for you in a couple of hours!!!

Well it didn't go as we hoped, but we had a good time. We are about to go out on the town. Talk to you later.

Oh well. Always next week, huh?

I'm planning another visit to Death Valley shortly. I'll keep hope alive!

Glad you had a good time anyway.

Welcome back to the blog world, Al!
