For those of you scoring at home...
After MUCH consideration, we have narrowed our list of potential law schools to two: Pepperdine University, and the University of Florida (Gainesville).
In that order.
Going to Pepperdine is completely contingent on securing a spot in married/family housing on campus, something we won't know about for sure for a few weeks.
We are still reeling from these choices. We had completely ruled Pepperdine out as an option - until I received the admissions packet that included a significant scholarship this past week.
Our major decision factors in regard to Pepperdine were:
(1) It is ranked #1 in the country in dispute resolution, the field I am most interested in.
(2) The scholarship will (with great irony) make Pepperdine just about our cheapest option
(3) The idea of living (all of us), going to school (me), going to church (all of us) and working (Jody) on campus in a safe environment is pretty amazing
But if the housing doesn't work out, it will nullify #2 and #3 above and rule out Pepperdine in favor of the University of Florida.
Pretty weird feeling: Two locations, 2,454 miles apart. We'll move to one of these places in six months.
